Thanks for your comments Nancy, and it sounds like you're doing great work if you were invited to attend the Seeds of Compassion event. You're right about Greg Mortenson, he may be doing more to create peace in Afghanistan and the region than all the efforts that the U.S. government is doing. I have been reading about him for quite awhile now, so I'm glad you reminded me of him. I think he deserves his own article on the Low Density Lifestyle site, so that's what I will do.

Very impressive list, thank you for posting the 50 People Who Are Changing the World.

I was privileged to be asked to attend the Seeds of Compassion event hosted by His Holiness the Dalai Lama last year. The program was a stellar 5 day event with participants from all arenas of education, organizations and business. Great choice to head this list up with the Dalai Lama.

Having read Greg Mortenson's best seller Three Cups of Tea book, I am wondering why this humanitarian is not listed as well. (His new book is Stones into Schools.)
The real life story of one person being able to make a difference in our world has impacted my life, to truly understand that it can be done. Within 17 years he has single handedly founded 130 schools for girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan in some of the world's most isolated areas. Perhaps he will be considered on your list at another time.
